A Journey Through Images: Films by Nathaniel Dorsky and Jerome HIler

On Sunday, January 5, 2025, UCCA will present a special screening of pioneering 16mm film works, focusing on the films of directors Nathaniel Dolskey and Jérôme Schiller from the 1960s to 2018. Nathanael Dolske and Jérôme Schiller's film careers began during the flourishing era of handmade cinema in 1960s New York and continue to this day. Driven by a pursuit of lyrical cinema, their art transforms ordinary environments into intimate, transcendent visions—an open poetic form offering viewers a visual experience. Both artists remain devoted to the 16mm Bolex camera and silent projection at 18 frames per second. To showcase their six-decade-long, unwavering exploration of poetic imagery, this exhibition presents a series of representative works spanning different periods of their careers.
